What is a parent training?

Parent training is a collaboration between caregivers and specialists. It gives parents the support and guidance they need to be effective caregivers while improving the family’s overall well-being. Parents of children with autism often experience higher stress levels than those of neurotypical children. Managing behavioral difficulties, learning disabilities, and language barriers can be challenging and stressful for caregivers.

Hands On ABA customizes parent training to each family’s needs to ensure success. The training focuses on your child’s strengths and challenges, aiming to create a healthy family dynamic that supports skill-building and growth.

For example, parent training might involve teaching caregivers how to build on their child’s language skills in small steps. Instead of using long words and complete sentences, caregivers learn to build vocabulary gradually, starting with single words and moving to two-word phrases. This approach helps expand the child’s language skills without adding stress to the family.
